Behind the Glass
Hi, I’m Emily Johnson, the artist behind Glitter Flux Glassworks. Based in Greenville, SC, I’m a self-taught glass artist creating contemporary stained glass artwork.
Each piece begins as an original concept, developed through sketching, experimentation, and an evolving creative process. Using the Tiffany method, every work is individually hand-cut, foiled, and soldered, often incorporating painting and glass fusing to create layered surfaces, unexpected textures, and compositions that shift with changing light.
My work is heavily inspired by the strange and the beautiful, drawing influence from oddities, natural forms, surreal color palettes, and the emotional quality of light itself. I’m interested in pushing stained glass beyond its traditional associations, creating pieces designed not simply for windows, but as contemporary art objects meant to live on walls, interact with space, and transform throughout the day.
At the center of my practice is a fascination with material. Glass captures color and light in a way that feels alive. I love combining traditional craftsmanship with experimentation, allowing texture, imperfections, and unexpected details to shape each final piece.
Through Glitter Flux Glassworks, I create artwork that feels immersive, personal, and slightly uncanny, inviting curiosity and rewarding close attention.
Thanks for stopping by. I’m glad you’re here.
